Buyer's Guide: Ultralight Backpacking Tent

Reasons Why You Should Go in For the  Ultralight Backpacking Tent

When you are considering the purchase of an ultralight backpacking tent, you should make sure that it is light enough for your backpacking experience. Most people choose to purchase a tent that is a few times the weight of the average backpack. If you are looking for something that can be used for two to three weeks without much problem, you will want something very light. You should do a little research and find out about the different ultralight options that are available.

The most common ultralight backpacking tent that you will see on the market is made with an aluminum frame and has much less material than the average camping tent. You will notice that most of these tents have less padding, but they also are not as heavy as the rest. When you are checking the price of these tents, you should consider the fact that they are not very lightweight and some people may prefer them for that reason. Check out how many extra pieces of clothing you will need with these tents and make sure that the venting is adequate and if it is not, you should make the purchase of another model.

Another feature that makes these ultralight models so popular is the lack of side door entry. These backpacks are designed to allow backpackers to enter the tent through the front door and head towards the front or rear exit. This is a huge benefit for people who like to camp in different areas around their campsite. It will allow you to go out in any direction, and if you are a nature camper, you may want to choose one with a lot of shelving to keep your camping gear where you need it.

The other feature that makes these backpacking tents so popular is their size. Most models are at least five feet wide and there are some which are even wider. They are made with more space than most regular tents and can easily hold three people who are comfortable with the extra weight. This means that you can fit two people into each one, unlike regular single-door ones which will have no space for one person. If you are going on extended backpacking trips, this is a good choice and will ensure that you are spacious enough for all your camping equipment.

While it may not be as fancy as another type of camping tent, you will find that the ultralight variety is the best choice for those who like lightweight tent designs. You will also find that they are very durable. Most of them offer high tear resistance and have few seams which reduce condensation. Trail testing has proven that these trail models are up to 70% more durable than other brands.

Ultralight backpacking tents are usually very easy to set up. A few minutes is all it takes for you to erect them. This is one of the reasons why they are so popular among backpackers. You can fit even a light tent inside your backpack thus freeing up the interior space for other important things. It will be a great relief to know that you no longer need to bring heavy tents and sleeping bags along on your camping trip.

Another advantage of the ultralight tent models is that they are lighter than other conventional models. It can weigh as low as two or three pounds. This is far lighter than the six to seven pounds that you would have to carry on average backpacking trips.

Although they have been tested for puncture and tear resistance, it is highly recommended that you go in for a more expensive model with good stitching and extra strong seams. The best ones will also have interior rooms that are suitable for storage such as mesh pockets or zippered areas. At the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that you get enough room for yourself and your things. If you think you have a few days to spare, then go for an ultralight backpacking tent and enjoy the advantages that it offers.
